North Korea has been in the news a lot lately for it's continued missile testing and taunting of the U.S. and South Korea. While the saber rattling makes for great news headlines, we need to be reminded of the very real human impact this regime continues to have on its subjects.
I've always been fascinated by North Korea and learned as much as I could about the place. Today, I watched a video that reminded how important it is to be aware of what is going on in this part of the world.
Here's how this video impacted me:
- We often focus too much on the regime and too little on the people who are being oppressed.
- Tens of thousands of people who have escaped this regime have been forced back by the Chinese government.
- Hearing her story and those of others like her reminds me of how insignificant my struggles are by comparison and makes me thankful for the freedoms I so often take for granted.
- There are people reaching inside North Korea with the gospel. We need to pray for them constantly. (Ephesians 6:18-20)
